Basic Teaching System Samples
I believe all callers should have the option of teaching each call in the Basic program independently of any other calls in that program – once they teach what I have identified as the “CORE 20”. They should also be able to include each of these calls in a singing call for their dancers’ enjoyment and dance practice. The “CORE 20” can be taught in SIX and a half weeks. Then the remaining calls can be taught in any order desired, at their own teaching pace.
In my opinion, the singing call is the icing on the cake for square dancers. They should be able to dance all the calls taught with reasonably smooth body flow and correct timing, as provided by a singing call – from the VERY FIRST TIP!
Here is a sample of the covers and a few pages from the Basic Teaching System book to give you an idea of the layout!
